Is insurance coverage provided?

Apolline has no insurance to cover participants in its programs. It is the responsibility of parents and families to ensure that their children are adequately covered in case of need.

What insurance do I need?

Parents must ensure that participants have accident insurance to cover medical expenses in the event of injury, as well as third-party liability insurance to cover any damage. This insurance is essential to ensure that appropriate care is taken in the event of an incident.

What happens in the event of a medical emergency?

In the event of an emergency, we immediately contact the parents and, if necessary, the emergency services. It is essential that parents provide us with relevant health information about their child before the start of the course, including any allergies or medical conditions that may require special attention.

If you have any further questions about your child's insurance and safety, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yes, the teaching of these two types of guitars differs in terms of technique, style and repertoire. The classical guitar is usually played with the fingers, while the electric guitar is played with a pick. The classical guitar is often used to play classical music, flamenco and other acoustic styles, while the electric guitar is commonly used in jazz, rock, pop and other amplified styles. The musical repertoire for the classical guitar often includes pieces by classical composers, while the musical repertoire for the electric guitar can include rock, jazz and blues songs. However, there are points of intersection between the two styles, particularly in jazz and pop where classical guitar can have its place, and where technique and playing style can work together to create unique sounds.

Sheet music found on the internet varies in quality, as does most internet content. Some scores can be accurate and reliable, while others may contain errors or inconsistencies. The problem is that piano sheet music available on the internet is not always produced or verified by professional musicians or music teachers. Many individuals may publish sheet music online, which fluctuates the quality of the online content. It is therefore recommended that you always check the source of the sheet music before using it to ensure that it comes from a reliable source. Finally, it is important to note that even if sheet music is reliable, there is more to teaching piano than just playing notes on a sheet of paper. A music teacher will have the pedagogy to help you become a true pianist by understanding the nuances and subtleties of the music, as well as the proper techniques to play the pieces expressively and vividly.

Yes, singing is an integral part of the program, so our workshops do indeed include a singing component. In practice, in almost every session, a portion of the class is devoted to learning to sing: vocal warm-ups, breathing technique, working on the show’s songs, etc. Students learn to project their voice, to sing in a group and solo, and to interpret lyrics with emotion.
However, it’s true that the class also covers dance and acting. If there is a desire to delve deeper specifically into singing (advanced vocal technique, a wider repertoire outside the show context), it’s absolutely possible to arrange individual or small-group coaching with one of our voice instructors. It’s by no means required, but some passionate kids choose to add that to progress even faster. In summary: yes, we sing a lot in class, but for ultra-focused vocal training, the option of separate singing lessons exists as well.

Cours à l'annéeThéâtre et comédie musicale

At Apolline, we offer a full range of formats so that each student finds the approach that suits them:

• Individual lesson (30 to 60 minutes): ideal for students seeking ultra-personalized coaching and the teacher’s full attention. This tailor-made format is available weekly (34 lessons per year) or every other week (17 lessons per year).
• Semi-private lesson (2 or 3 students, 40 to 45 minutes weekly): this small format is perfect for enjoying the dynamic of a tiny ensemble while still receiving close individual guidance. The chemistry created by the interactions allows students to further explore their voices and work on harmonies, which is especially motivating for young singers who are happy to share their passion with friends.
• Ensemble class (4 to 8 students, 60 minutes weekly): this group format enriches the singing experience by allowing in-depth exploration that’s impossible solo or in a small group. Thanks to the diversity of voices, students learn to sing in complex harmony, experiment with different vocal roles, and develop their listening skills. The energy and peer motivation among participants foster self-confidence, team spirit, and the shared joy of singing. Two levels are offered: a beginner/intermediate group and an advanced group, tailored to the ages and experiences of the participants.

No matter which format is chosen, students always benefit from personalized guidance, positive teaching, and a stimulating environment. At Apolline, every voice counts, and each student progresses with fun, confidence, and creativity!

No, we don’t conduct formal exams along the way. Unlike a traditional conservatory, where singing might involve level exams and grades, Apolline favors a more flexible, individualized approach. No stressful exams or imposed diplomas at year’s end – learning takes place without academic pressure. Of course, our instructors closely monitor each student’s progress and can continually assess their skills, but that’s primarily to tailor the lessons to their needs. If a student wishes to take an external exam (for example, audition for a choir, enter a competition, or later apply to a conservatory), the teacher can prepare them specifically for it. But that is up to the student/family. Most of our students treat singing as a serious hobby: they improve thanks to passion, not for a grade on a scale of 6. This philosophy aligns with the wishes of many parents we work with, who prefer to avoid “forcing” official exams and favor a personalized musical journey for their child. In short, no mandatory exams with us – singing should remain a real pleasure and not a race for certificates.

Absolutely! Our workshops welcome both beginners and more experienced kids and teens. No prior experience is required — everyone is welcome, even if they’ve never set foot on stage before. The instructor adapts the exercises and the workshop’s pace for each student. Beginners progress step by step, learn theater basics (voice work, movement, simple improvisations), and gain confidence with each session. There’s no competition or pressure: the important thing is that each student has fun while learning. In fact, many of our students discover theater at Apolline without any background and they flourish quickly thanks to the workshop’s welcoming atmosphere.

We welcome children from age 6. By that age, they have the maturity to follow a one-hour group class and have fun while learning. Of course, teens are welcome too – we offer groups divided by appropriate age ranges (juniors, pre-teens/teens) so that everyone progresses alongside peers at a similar developmental stage. There’s no maximum age as long as the motivation is there: our teen classes even include students up to 16–17 years old.

Cours à l'annéeThéâtre et comédie musicale

Singing lessons at Apolline are available for children starting at 4 years old. At that age, we use an early music introduction approach focused on play and discovering the voice. Toddlers sing nursery rhymes, explore sounds and rhythm in a playful way, with no formal technical requirements – the goal is to nurture their musical ear and budding passion. From around 6–7 years old, children have more attention span and can begin a slightly more structured vocal learning (fun breathing exercises, songs suited to their vocal range). Teenagers and adults can start singing at any time: it’s never too late to begin, and our teachers know how to adapt the lessons for teens even if they have never sung before. In short, whether it’s for you or your young artist—little or not so little—we have a singing class suited to every age and every level.

If the school year has already started, don’t worry: it’s possible to join the workshop along the way (as long as spots are available). We regularly welcome new students mid-trimester — registrations are open from May to January. When a participant joins a class in progress, the teacher takes some time to get them up to speed and integrate them smoothly into the group. The tuition will be adjusted pro-rata for the remaining sessions. Feel free to contact us to check availability if the year has already begun. Note: once rehearsal for the year-end show is underway and roles are assigned (generally around January–February), it becomes difficult or even impossible to add someone to the group, and you would then have to wait for the next school year.

Unfortunately, bass lessons cannot be given at home for practical reasons. The location of the lessons remains fixed, in Lausanne, and allows the students to follow a quality teaching with an equipped and adapted room. From experience, we have found that the distraction of the home environment can also affect the quality of the teaching and the concentration of the students, especially for the younger ones, which can negatively impact their progress on the bass.

At Apolline, we organize workshops for the most motivated students who wish to discover playing in a group. Within this framework, we encourage our students to perform in concerts, in particular in bars/clubs in the city of Lausanne as well as during the annual Apolline Fest. This program is not suitable for beginners, but rather for students who have already mastered their instrument. A workshop room with good acoustics is available to the students to allow them to play in the best possible conditions. Our workshop teacher, who has a lot of experience on stage, aims to pass on his passion for live performance to his students. We will also teach them to acquire a good stage presence and the specific codes of the stage world. We make sure that the pieces chosen are enjoyable for everyone, in order to guarantee an enriching experience mixing fun, work and progress.

Theater, while not a therapy in the strict sense, can have therapeutic benefits and is a fantastic personal development tool for children and adults alike. In theater class, we explore emotions, express ourselves through body and voice, and learn to know ourselves better – all of which can help overcome certain personal difficulties. For example, a very anxious or insecure child can gradually overcome their shyness through drama, by getting used to expressing themselves in front of others in a supportive context.

Similarly, acting exercises are sometimes used in professional coaching to work on public speaking, stress management, or self-confidence. For instance, even adults in career transition or job seekers can benefit from theater exercises to gain assurance in job interviews after a period of unemployment. There’s even a discipline called drama therapy (theater therapy) that explicitly uses theater play for therapeutic purposes, led by health professionals. Theater is also sometimes used as a form of group mediation – for example in family or couples therapy – to help participants communicate differently and express their feelings via role-play.Of course, our theater workshops in Etoy and Yverdon are above all educational and artistic leisure activities, not therapy sessions. Nevertheless, the benefits they bring – personal growth, increased confidence, emotional management, social bonding – undeniably contribute to each participant’s mental and emotional well-being. In short, theater does a world of good for psychological health while being a creative and fun activity: it’s a win-win all around!

Having a dedicated space for your practice can however help you to concentrate and fully immerse yourself in your universe. Drawing gathers all kinds of skills and is divided into many categories. If we talk about manga drawing for example, it can also include painting, character design, visual storytelling and layout. All of these areas may require a bit of equipment, including a set of drawing supplies, pencils, markers, quality paper, erasers and rulers. You may also need a computer or graphics tablet to create digital art, if you want to get into illustration for example. All in all, a dedicated space for your creations is obviously recommended!

Yes, but we don’t impose strict theory lessons as part of the singing classes. The primary goal is that each participant enjoys singing without the “heaviness” of a separate theory syllabus. We gradually and playfully integrate useful theoretical concepts for singing that relate to what is being practiced in class. For example, students will learn to read lyrics in rhythm, understand what a verse and chorus are, recognize notes (do-re-mi scales, etc.), and find the tempo on a simplified score. These elements are taught concretely: always applied to a song being studied — never theory for theory’s sake. If your child continues for several years, they will naturally acquire a good foundation in rhythmic reading and ear training without even realizing it. For those who want to, we can go a bit further (for example, deciphering a sheet music, working on sung solfège exercises), but that is by no means mandatory. At Apolline, we believe theory should serve singing and not the reverse – we use it as a tool, not an end in itself. Thus, students progress in vocal technique while gradually developing their understanding of music, but without unnecessary academic rigidity.

Yes, each year we organize at least three events during the year bringing together our young artists, including the singers. These are big moments for them: they go on stage in front of family and proudly share the fruit of their work. The event takes place in a caring, festive atmosphere – no competition, just the joy of performing in public! Each singing group performs one or two songs prepared in class (for example a duet or a small choir), and the more advanced students can also sing solo if they wish. We schedule rehearsals so that everyone is ready and confident on the big day. Seeing your child sing on stage, microphone in hand, is a very emotional moment for both parents and teachers.
Beyond the annual concert, we also offer other performance opportunities throughout the year: informal showcases during open-house events, participation in local happenings, etc. For example, our vocal students have participated in regional competitions (like the Swiss Voice Tour or The Voice Kids) accompanied by their teacher. These experiences in front of an audience, optional but encouraged, help children tremendously to progress and gain confidence. In any case, show or no show, we regularly celebrate each student’s progress – the important thing is that they feel proud of themselves.

For now, our theater classes for children are offered in Etoy and Yverdon, in the canton of Vaud. We don’t yet have a class in Geneva or elsewhere in French-speaking Switzerland, but that may change in the future. Given the growing interest in our workshops, we’re considering opening classes in other cities soon – for example in Geneva. So feel free to follow our news if you’re interested in courses closer to home.

Additionally, Apolline already offers musical theater classes in French-speaking Switzerland, notably in Geneva – an option to consider if your kids also love singing and dancing. But when it comes to pure theater, for now our Etoy and Yverdon locations are the only two. We’d be delighted to welcome your child there and guide them in discovering theater!

Yes, we offer a 10% sibling discount on the fee for the second participant (and any additional siblings) enrolled in our programs. In practice, if you enroll two members of the same family in annual courses (any discipline), the second gets a 10% reduction on their tuition. This discount applies to both the monthly payment plan and the one-time annual payment. We are a small, family-oriented organization and we want to encourage siblings to flourish together in our artistic activities. It’s also a little helping hand for the parents’ budget. Be sure to mention it when signing up your second child, and the discount will be applied.

Yes, the first class always serves as a trial. We know it’s important to test the atmosphere and teaching style to be sure your child feels comfortable. You can therefore sign up for a year-long program without fear, as you’re not immediately committing for the whole year. After this trial, if your child enjoys the workshop (and we bet they will!), all they need to do is come to the next session to confirm their enrollment.
If for any reason it wasn’t a good fit, you’re free to either request to try a different group/time slot or to cancel the enrollment entirely, at no charge. This trial session is a chance to meet the instructor, discover the classroom in Lausanne, and see if the chemistry with the group is right. Don’t hesitate to take advantage of it – it provides great reassurance for both parents and kids before starting the adventure! Yes! As mentioned above, we always offer a free trial session for our singing lessons. It’s very simple: you complete the course registration, and the first singing session is considered a trial. If you do not wish to continue after this trial lesson, the enrollment can be canceled at no cost. This allows everyone to discover the class, meet the teacher and potential classmates, and see if they feel at ease. On your side, it’s also an opportunity to ask the teacher any questions at the end of this first lesson. This trial lesson is no-strings-attached – we believe that to decide, there’s nothing like experiencing it firsthand. Of course, in the vast majority of cases, children come out delighted from this first try and are eager to return the following week! In any case, don’t hesitate to take advantage of this complimentary trial session.

Currently, the youngest group we welcome is age 6 (roughly Kindergarten age), because before that it’s difficult to conduct a structured one-hour musical theater session. For the very little ones (4–5 years), we do not offer musical theater yet: classes start at age 6. That may come eventually – perhaps in the form of a “Baby Broadway” workshop adapted for that age – if we see enough demand.
As for older age groups, our teen classes go up to about 17 years old. For adults and seniors, we don’t have any class or workshop dedicated to them at the moment, but we are definitely open to the idea. Musical theater can be enjoyed at any age, and singing/dancing can do a world of good for older adults, too!

Yes. In addition to group classes, we offer personalized coaching sessions on request. For example, if a student is preparing for an important audition (to join a company or an arts competition), we can organize a few private sessions to help them polish their performance, work on their stage presence or their voice. This coaching is provided by our instructors depending on availability, usually outside of regular class hours. The content is tailor-made: it could be vocal coaching, working on the interpretation of a song, or even help with staging a monologue.
We also provide artistic guidance for young people who want to pursue their passion further (for instance, applying to a professional school or university in Switzerland or abroad). We can prepare recommendation letters, help put together an artistic portfolio, or even suggest other complementary classes (classical dance, opera singing, etc.).

At Apolline, home lessons are neither common nor particularly encouraged. However, with the teacher’s prior agreement on a case-by-case basis, we may organize them in certain special situations (for example, an injury that temporarily prevents a student from coming to the studio), in coordination with the family. This format offers parents appreciable convenience – no commute, familiar environment – as well as real logistical flexibility to adjust scheduling to everyone’s needs.

On the other hand, at home the student doesn’t benefit from the group dynamic or the school’s stimulating setting. The group energy, the accompaniment piano, or the teaching materials may be missing, for example. It’s often more challenging to conduct the lesson, especially with very young children. Outside the classroom environment, it can be harder to capture and maintain their attention. Therefore, the decision is made case by case, always in the student’s best interest and with the aim of ensuring a quality educational experience.

Cours à l'annéeMusique

Our musical theater classes already offer a wide range of skills (singing, dancing, acting). Depending on the year’s show theme, it’s absolutely possible to enrich the experience with specific workshop topics.
Tap Dance: If the year-end performance calls for it, we might include an introductory tap dance workshop for a term or more. For example, shows like Singin’ in the Rain or 42nd Street are iconic and feature tap dancing. If the students are interested, adding a taste of tap is definitely possible.
Improvisation: Improv is a tool we use often to help aspiring performers reach their full potential. Improv is all about daring and taking risks. As such, an improv module is a common part of any theater or musical theater course with us. Theatrical improvisation builds spontaneity and creativity, and also helps students connect with their own emotions. These additions allow them to discover other facets of performing without overloading the schedule.
In parallel, Apolline also organizes masterclasses (one-off intensive workshops outside the regular program) in various areas, such as K-pop dance or advanced singing. Each workshop is led by one or more guest instructors, often focusing on specific dance styles or particular vocal techniques (for example, a Broadway masterclass to learn an iconic choreography). These supplementary workshops are announced during the year and open to our enrolled students, sometimes with a small additional fee if it’s an outside guest teacher. Our goal is to keep things fresh and offer the students an even broader artistic palette, while still keeping it fun and accessible.

Apolline does indeed organize art workshops and vacation camps, especially during the summer, which can include an introduction to singing. For example, each year we have a multidisciplinary summer camp in Lausanne, where kids get to engage in several arts (singing, theater, dance, etc.) over a week. This allows them to improve while having fun during the holidays and to meet new friends who are also artists. If you are looking for a dedicated singing program, we sometimes offer intensive singing workshops during the shorter school breaks, depending on demand – for example, a mini modern singing camp for teens over 3 days. Information on our vacation workshops is updated on our website in the Camps/Workshops section. Feel free to check it or contact us to find out the upcoming dates and themes. In summary, yes – in addition to our year-round programs, your child can pursue their passion for singing during the holidays through Apolline camps, for an even deeper artistic immersion!

Our current classes take place in Etoy and Yverdon, but we regularly have families from Lausanne attend. Etoy is only about twenty minutes from Lausanne by train or car, which makes it easy for people from Lausanne to join our workshops. At this time, we don’t yet offer theater classes directly in Lausanne (aside from summer camps during the summer break). However, given the growing demand in the Lausanne area, we are considering expanding our activities to that city in the future. Keep an eye on our announcements: as soon as classes are available in Lausanne, we will inform our community.

Yes, absolutely! Apolline offers intensive camps in all artistic domains during school vacations – whether it’s summer break, the October fall break, the “Relâches” winter break, the Carnival/Mardi Gras break, or Easter. These workshops are open to young artists of all levels – whether they want to discover a discipline or deepen a passion. The camps take place in Lausanne, Geneva, Morges or Yverdon, and last 5 days, running from morning to late afternoon, with a pace that allows a great immersion in the artistic universe.
Participants experience a true collective adventure: creating original scenes, working on improv, vocal exploration, an introduction to dance, and even preparing a real show presented at the end of the week. The instruction is provided by passionate teachers in a joyful, caring atmosphere. These camps are very popular with kids (and parents!) because they combine artistic intensity, the fun of performing, and new friendships.
Whether your child is already used to our weekly classes or completely new, these out-of-school experiences are an excellent way to improve while having fun. And as always at Apolline, the joy of learning and highlighting each individual is at the heart of the experience.

No, we don’t issue an official diploma at the end of the year – and this is a deliberate educational choice. Our philosophy is to prioritize the pleasure of learning and personal growth over performance measured by an exam. Therefore, there are no end-of-year tests or grades, and consequently no diploma. Instead, we focus on events that allow students to perform in front of an audience and receive genuine recognition (applause, positive feedback) without the pressure of an exam.
That said, if a student wishes to pursue an official arts track later on, we are happy to provide, upon request, a certificate of course completion or even individual recommendation letters written by our team. For teens aiming, for example, to enter a conservatory or arts school, our mentors – all of whom are qualified professionals – can also offer an intensive curriculum to prepare them as needed, in addition to the regular recreational class. In sum, there’s no internal diploma, but we do provide tailored support for those who want to go further.

There is no particular diploma given to students throughout their learning process. Indeed, Apolline favors learning that is based on pleasure through progression and not on performance. This is why we do not organize exams, and why there are no diplomas. Every year we organize a festival with the colors of the school: The Apolline Fest. You can read our article on this subject. Each student who wishes to do so has the opportunity to register and perform in front of an audience of friends and family. This is a good opportunity to showcase all the work done during the year. It is also common for our teachers to write letters of recommendation for students to help them achieve their goals. In addition, for experienced students, our teachers offer a professional curriculum to prepare motivated students for the art school entrance exams. All of our music teachers have a degree from an art school.

No, there is no audition or selection required to join our theater courses. There’s no entry screening process – all children are welcome in our workshops, regardless of their level or experience. The goal is simply to spark their desire to learn and let them progress at their own pace, with no competitive spirit. Enrollment is done solely based on age (to place your young artist in the appropriate group), and we only ask for the usual practical information (contact details, any special needs, emergency contact, etc.). No artistic criteria are required at sign-up: they just need to enjoy theater and want to be a part of it!

Yes, absolutely! No prior experience is required to join us. On the contrary – musical theater is an excellent way to discover acting, singing, and dancing in a playful setting. Our teachers adapt to each student’s level – whether complete beginner or already familiar with the stage – so that everyone can progress without feeling lost. The first sessions cover the basics of each discipline, which allows newcomers to get comfortable gradually. Your budding artist will be guided step by step with kindness. Many students start out shy and inexperienced and, thanks to the encouraging atmosphere, quickly learn the fundamentals. So don’t worry: everyone starts from their own level and grows at their own pace. The important thing is motivation and the joy of participating!

Yes, and it’s actually ideal for shy kids because it allows them to express themselves in a fun, supportive environment. By taking part in theater games, singing in a group, and letting loose dancing, your child will learn to open up little by little. At Apolline, we make a point of creating a climate of trust: no teasing, mistakes are okay, everyone progresses without judgment. Often, reserved children blossom over the weeks: they dare to speak up in front of others, make themselves heard by singing a verse, and eventually enjoy being on stage. Playing a character can also help them come out of their shell, since they no longer feel like it’s them up there. Plus, the group’s support and the teacher’s encouragement are reassuring. Many parents tell us that after a few months of class, their shy child has gained confidence at school and in daily life. Musical theater builds self-esteem in a remarkable way, all while respecting each child’s individual pace.

Not at all! Our program is conducted primarily in French, but we regularly have students who are not French-speaking or who are bilingual. Our staff is used to multicultural groups and is patient with those still learning French. Moreover, musical theater is a very visual and physical art: kids understand a lot through movement, example, and imitation, even if they don’t catch every word. In fact, it’s an excellent way for your child to learn French in a fun way, by memorizing songs and lines!
We make sure no student feels left out because of language. On the contrary, this mix of cultures enriches the group – everyone learns from each other. For example, if one participant is comfortable in English, we might even incorporate a bit of English into their role in the show, depending on the script. We are very open-minded and encourage each student to bring their own culture and uniqueness. Integration generally goes very well: theater and music create bonds beyond words. Your young performer will gain confidence by expressing themselves on stage, and they’ll make friends without language barriers.

We don’t conduct formal exams or give numerical grades in our classes. Each student’s progress happens continuously and in a personalized way. In each weekly session, the instructor observes what each child has learned and where they have difficulties, then adjusts their teaching accordingly. We may occasionally invite parents to a small informal presentation or an open class at the end of a term to show the work done, but it’s not obligatory. The idea is that the student notices their progress naturally: for example, they can hit a note they couldn’t reach at the start, or they dare to speak out louder than before. We favor immediate positive feedback and celebrating successes rather than report cards.
If you would like a one-on-one update on your child’s progress, it’s absolutely possible to arrange a meeting with the teacher – we are attentive and available. And of course, the big indicator of progress is the year-end show: often parents can’t get over how they see their budding stars on stage, transformed and so at ease! In terms of levels, our groups are designed to be fairly homogeneous by age, but if a student is particularly advanced, we may give them a few extra challenges (a solo, a slightly more complex role) to feed their artistic appetite without pulling them out of their group.

Every child has their own personality and developmental pace, and truthfully it isn’t necessary to have “innate talent” to enjoy musical theater. However, certain signs might show that your future star is particularly comfortable or gifted for the stage:

• They love to attract positive attention: For example, they’re not shy about putting on little shows at home, singing in front of the family, telling jokes or doing impressions. If they readily try to make people laugh or feel emotions, that’s a good sign.
• They have a big imagination: They invent stories, often play dress-up, turn the living room into an impromptu theater stage, showing a natural love of play-acting.
• They are captivated by movies/musicals: If they adore watching Frozen or The Lion King and singing along, or if they take an interest in shows they see, that reveals an affinity for this world.
• They dance or sing all the time: In the shower, in the car, whenever there’s music, they start moving… A young music-lover or very rhythmic child could really shine in musical theater.
• They enjoy group activities: Musical theater is a team effort. If they like working in a group, cooperating with kids their age, they will thrive on stage as part of an ensemble.
• Feedback from teachers or others: Perhaps a school teacher or an activity leader has told you “your child has real artistic potential” after seeing how they express themselves. Comments like that can hint at a talent.

That said, even if your young performer doesn’t check all these boxes or is on the quiet side, classes are there precisely to develop their talent. Many great artists started out shy and only revealed their ability through practice. The most important thing is that they want to try – talent can be nurtured! Through our classes in Lausanne, we’ve seen kids discover incredible abilities in singing or acting that they never knew they had. So encourage them to give it a go and see if it clicks. No matter what, they will always get something positive out of it (confidence, general culture, etc.). Every child has potential that’s just waiting to be expressed, and we’re here to help them do it.

Learning lines (and songs) is part of every performer’s work. It can seem intimidating at first, but there are a few effective methods to make memorization easier:

• Understand and visualize: Start by having them read the script thoroughly to understand the story and the character’s intentions. Encourage your child to imagine the scene in their head like a movie while reading their lines – this gives meaning to the words. If they grasp what they’re saying and why they’re saying it, they’ll remember it much better than by rote memorization.
• Practice regularly in small chunks: It’s better to review or recite the lines a little bit each day than to try to learn everything in one go the night before rehearsal. Memory needs spaced repetition. 10 minutes here and there is ideal for cementing the text. You could stick the script on the fridge and have them read a section each evening, for example.
• Write or draw the lines: For some, rewriting their lines by hand greatly helps memorization (using visual and muscle memory). Others might prefer to draw a little comic strip of the scene they’re learning, or highlight the first letter of each sentence… Anything that engages another sense beyond just reading is helpful.
• Use a prompter (practice with someone): Practicing in pairs is fantastic. You, as a parent, or a sibling can read the other characters’ lines and prompt your young actor on their lines without them looking at the script. If they get stuck, help by starting the line for them. This method is very effective for locking in dialogue.
• Use recordings: Another trick is to record the entire scene’s dialogue (either by a parent or using the child’s own phone), leaving gaps for your child’s lines. Then have them listen to the audio and try to say their lines at the right moments during the silences. It’s great practice, especially if they learn by hearing (auditory memory).
• Move while reciting: Many people learn better while moving (kinesthetic memory). Encourage your child to walk around their room while saying their lines, to mime their actions at the same time, or even attach a specific gesture to a tricky line. By repeating it this way, the body will help the memory – under the stage lights they’ll remember, “oh right, when I lift my arm it’s this line.”
• Break it into small sections: Instead of trying to learn a long speech all at once, have them learn it line by line – or better, cue by cue, taking into account what comes right before. Once one line is solid, add the next, and so on, then string it all together.
• Test themselves: Finally, once they think they know it, have them test themselves in fun ways: for instance, cover the page and try to recite it, or ask someone to prompt them with a random cue from the text to see if they can respond in character.

And of course, in class, the teacher also works on memorization with the students through onstage practice and repetition. With these techniques, learning their lines will become much easier and even fun. Remember, the key is consistency: a little bit every day is better than cramming right before the performance. And no need to panic – if they have a memory lapse on the big day, there’s always a classmate there to cover for them, so it’s no big deal!

It is possible to determine if your son or daughter has a talent for drawing by observing his or her behavior at school, if he or she prefers to spend time drawing rather than listening to lectures. If your child is often absorbed in his or her drawings and shows remarkable creativity, this may be a sign that visual arts are his or her forte. You can also talk to his teacher to get his opinion on your son's abilities. If your child shows a sustained interest in drawing and continues to improve despite difficulties, this may indicate a passion for art. Finally, if your child receives positive feedback on his or her drawings from classmates or family, it may suggest that he or she has a talent for drawing. Don't hesitate to encourage your child to pursue his or her interest in the visual arts by enrolling him or her in classes or by providing high-quality drawing materials to develop academic skills.

Signing up is simple and done online via our form. Choose the theater class (in Etoy or in Yverdon) corresponding to your child’s age, then fill in the requested information. Once enrolled, you will receive a confirmation email with all the practical details (schedule, exact location, etc.).

For payment, you have several options: pay the entire period at once or opt for monthly installments. Most families prefer a monthly payment plan spread over 12 months (for example, about CHF 89 per month for a weekly 75-minute class). This spreads the cost from September to August without too much strain. If you enroll your child partway through the course, the price will be adjusted pro rata for the remaining sessions. Note that, depending on your municipality or canton, financial aid may be available for extracurricular activities — we of course accept such aid if applicable.

A typical class begins with a fun vocal warm-up: we loosen up the body, do a few breathing exercises and some playful vocalises to prepare the voice. Next, the teacher introduces various activities depending on the age, level, and type of class (individual, semi-private, or group): games to work on diction and ear training, learning a new song, or revisiting a song already learned by adding nuances. Participants learn to sing while having fun, through playful challenges (imitating sounds, singing like their favorite character, etc.). The teacher ensures each student gets to participate: sometimes they each sing a few lines in turn, sometimes everyone sings together in unison to help each other. The session often ends with a little positive recap of what went well and areas to improve, so the students know what to work on before the next class. Our singing lessons are structured but remain very interactive and lively, so that no one ever gets bored. In short, there’s singing, moving, laughter – and a lot of learning without even realizing it!

We consider parents our partners in each student’s success. Throughout the year, we put in place several measures to involve you and keep you informed without being intrusive. First, you’ll receive email newsletters each month to summarize the school’s news. You are always welcome to sit in on a class during the year – our team is happy to welcome you, introduce themselves, and answer your questions during a session.
In addition, we remain reachable at any time: you can speak with the teacher at the end of class for quick feedback, or set up a meeting to discuss your little artist’s progress, any difficulties, or special wishes. Finally, for the end-of-year show, we often invite willing parents to give a hand with logistics (costumes, sets, final rehearsals) – with no obligation of course. Those who wish to can thus experience the show preparation from the inside, which is very convivial (a bit like a small family theater troupe where everyone pitches in). We make sure to communicate in a transparent and regular way.

Our classes are organized by age range, which tends to group students of relatively similar experience. However, there may be cases where, say, one 9-year-old has done 3 years of dance while another 10-year-old is a total beginner, in the same junior class. In such situations, we adapt our teaching to ensure each child is valued. For example, during a dance number, the more experienced student might be given a slightly more complex variation of a step, or even act as a “lead” to demonstrate to the rest of the group. Conversely, the beginner is encouraged and reassured – we remind them that everyone progresses at their own pace.
Since our classes are small, this individualization is easy to put in place: the teacher knows each student’s strengths and weaknesses. We stress team spirit with no internal competition. Everyone gets their moment to shine. Thus, even a less experienced student can have a little singing solo if they want, and a more experienced student won’t get bored because we’ll always give them material to push themselves further. We work to avoid any significant skill gaps, and we might suggest a group change if we deem it necessary to ensure each child is with peers of similar level (beginner, intermediate, or advanced). But that’s rare, because the common passion and enthusiasm make the groups progress together, pulling each other up. And the more “seasoned” kids develop their leadership by helping others, which is also a wonderful skill to acquire.

If this first trial lesson is successful, the student chooses a time slot that suits him/her and commits to weekly lessons. The teaching can then begin under the best conditions!

Theater is an excellent educational complement, because it allows a child to learn while having fun. Academically, theater workshops reinforce many skills, especially language and social skills. For example, putting on a play requires reading and understanding a text, which enriches vocabulary and improves oral expression – a real plus from a language standpoint. The child also learns to listen to instructions, work in a team, and speak in front of others, all assets that help at school as well as in daily life.

This activity usefully complements traditional schooling: it develops creativity, memory, concentration, and self-confidence, all of which support overall educational success. In short, theater provides a valuable boost to your child’s education by teaching them soft skills and life skills in a playful, interactive way.

There is no universal rule; each person progresses at their own pace. Some will make notable vocal progress in a few months, others will have a more gradual progression over several years – and that’s perfectly fine. Improving in singing is a continuous process: even the greatest singers keep refining their craft throughout their careers! For a beginner, we generally see initial improvements after about one quarter (the voice settles a bit, the ear gets sharper, the singer becomes more comfortable). After a year of singing, you will certainly notice development: they will have expanded their range, improved their pitch accuracy, gained vocal power and expressiveness. Of course, the speed of progression also depends on age (a young teen will find technical aspects easier than a 5-year-old) and on practice outside of lessons. A passionate student who sings often at home will progress faster. What we can assure you is that by having fun and with our teachers’ support, your young artist will continually improve. Singing is not a sprint but a journey: each session brings a small step forward. And there’s really no finish line, because you can always work on new songs, new vocal techniques… The important thing is that this musical journey is savored by the one who walks it. Over time, they will surely become an increasingly accomplished singer – maybe they’ll even compose their own songs one day!

When you will be able to play your first piece on the piano will depend on several factors such as your level of experience and whether you are a beginner or an advanced pianist. It is especially important not to rush and skip the basic steps of adopting a good technique, to go step by step through the method. If you are a beginner and have never played the piano before, it will probably take a few weeks or months before you are able to play your first piece. You will first need to learn the basics of music theory, the position of your hands on the keyboard, and how to read sheet music. But it's all relative! There are examples of extremely simple pop songs that can be learned in just a few days. If you already have some experience in music or if you are a musician in another field, you will manage to play your first song more quickly. All in all, it will always depend on your experience level and motivation.

In manga, you have probably noticed that girls and boys are not the same thing, there are for children, adults, girls and boys and, often, mangakas do not draw them in the same way. And yet, a girl is not so different from a boy, and even sometimes it is the same thing. So we have to remember that, often, manga girls are stereotypes: a very thin waist, big breasts, big eyelashes, big eyes, long hair, long thin legs, awkward postures with knees that meet... etc... a girl is not that at all and we have to be careful not to fall into the trap of confusing manga fantasy with reality, especially for children who read manga. But sometimes, some people need to make a stereotype, to draw the features that women will have more often than men, even on girls. If you want to do that, you have to imagine what women would have more often (sometimes they don't have it.): more prominent breasts, thinner waist, wider hips. If you want to exaggerate these stereotypes a bit more, which is not advisable to make a really nice character, you will add smaller hands and feet, a thinner and less muscular body, a thinner jaw, a thinner neck, longer eyelashes, less eyebrows... etc....

Drawing children in manga may seem difficult, but with a little practice and certainly some corrections, you can learn to draw them easily. Here are some exercises to help you draw children in the manga: Study the proportions: Children have different proportions than adults. Their heads are larger in relation to their bodies and their limbs are shorter. Research to understand the correct proportions and practice by drawing sketches to help you master the proportions. Observe children's character traits: Children have distinct features, such as larger eyes, rounder cheeks and smaller noses. Take time to observe these features and try to incorporate them into your drawings. Play with expressions: Children often have vivid and expressive expressions. Practice drawing different expressions, such as happy, angry or sad, to bring your characters to life. Use references: Use photos or videos of children to help you understand proportions, features and expressions. This can help you improve your drawing skills. Evaluate your drawings: Take time to regularly evaluate your drawings to identify areas for improvement. You can also ask for feedback and constructive criticism from other artists to help you improve your skills. By practicing regularly and using these tips, you will be able to draw children in manga with confidence and ease. Remember to take your time and have fun while drawing!

To get a good bass sound, it is important to consider several elements. First of all, it is crucial to play the bass line with a good technique to get a clear and distinct sound. It is also important to find the right balance of volume so as not to cover the other instruments or get lost in the mix. By using good playing technique, proper posture and playing with a good tempo, the sound will be clean and precise. The amp settings also have a significant impact on the sound of your bass, so it's important to adjust the tone settings to find the sound that best suits your playing style and the style of music you play. Using effects such as distortion or compression can also add color to your sound. Strings also play an important role in the sound of your bass, so it's a good idea to test different brands and types of strings to find the ones that work best for your playing style. All in all, getting a good sound on the bass requires practice, patience and an understanding of the different elements that contribute to the sound.

Unless you have a soundproof studio at home, it can be difficult to set up a drum set at home without disturbing your family and neighbors. One solution can be to purchase an electronic drum set. But beware, electronic drums have advantages and disadvantages. One of the negative points is the feel and sound. Electronic instruments tend to be less responsive and offer less feel, dynamics and touch than an acoustic drum set, which can affect the way beginners learn technique. That said, with the right approach and resources, beginners can learn and develop solid drumming techniques on an electronic drum set. When it comes to learning coordination and basic rhythms, electronics are more than enough, and many newer models are getting closer and closer to the feel of a real drum set.

Of course, participation in the show is optional — no student is required to perform if they’re not up for it — but most absolutely love having this unique experience. Our instructors prepare the students with care so that this performance becomes a joyful memory, without unnecessary stress. The goal is to celebrate the end of a theater cycle together, have fun, and share wonderful emotions as a family, whether on stage or in the audience.

Yes, each year culminates in a wonderful end-of-year show prepared by the students! It’s a major highlight that everyone looks forward to, giving a motivating goal throughout the classes. At this performance – usually part of our Apolline Fest (the annual festival of our arts school) – each class gets on stage to perform a piece that was chosen in class with the teacher. The Little Mermaid, Oliver Twist, Mary Poppins, and many others have featured in our programs. It’s an opportunity for your young talent to show what they’ve learned in front of a supportive audience (family, friends…) and to feel the adrenaline of a real performance.
Of course, participation in the show is not mandatory: if a student doesn’t feel ready or comfortable, we never force them. But in practice, almost all the kids want to take part because the atmosphere is so joyful and encouraging. It isn’t an exam, just a celebration of the journey accomplished. Many film actors started out in theater, and for good reason: theater is an excellent foundation for later launching into an acting career, whether on stage or in front of the camera. If your child dreams of becoming a movie actor, enrolling them in a theater class now is a great way to introduce them to acting. Theater will teach them to portray different characters, project their voice, work on their diction, express emotions with their body, and understand stage direction… All of these skills are just as crucial for a film actor. Granted, acting in front of a camera has its specifics (for example, adjusting one’s performance to close-ups and the presence of a film crew), but the basics remain the same: embodying a character in a believable and nuanced way.

By doing theater, a young aspiring actor gains confidence, broadens their range of expression, and acquires the discipline needed to rehearse and perform regularly in front of an audience. All this prepares them very well for future auditions and castings in the film industry. In fact, many casting directors appreciate candidates with theater experience, since those actors know how to project their voice, memorize a script, and adapt to stage directions. In summary, theater offers an ideal training ground for anyone aiming for the seventh art (cinema). Of course, later on your child can complement their learning with on-camera workshops or studies at film school, but their years of theater in Etoy and Yverdon will already have given them a solid foundation and valuable stage experience.

Yes, absolutely! Our singing lessons in Lausanne are designed precisely for complete beginners. No prerequisites are required: there’s no need to know how to read music or to have an “innate beautiful voice” to start. Most students begin without any particular technique – learning to sing is part of the process. Our voice instructors, who are qualified and experienced, know how to guide each young singer from their starting level. They explain concepts little by little (for example, how to breathe or place the voice) and use age-appropriate exercises. You’ll be surprised by the progress after just a few weeks of lessons! Moreover, everyone can sing with practice and good teaching: the voice is an instrument that can be trained. Even if some have natural talent, singing is learned like piano or drawing – through practice and enjoyment. So don’t worry – whether your little star sings in tune or off-key at the beginning, our classes will help them improve their voice gradually and gently.

Yes, absolutely. We also welcome children who are high-energy or have trouble sitting still – in fact, singing lessons are an excellent activity for them, because they help channel that energy in a creative way. Our voice teachers are used to little firecrackers and know how to manage them with patience and humor. During the lesson, activities are short and varied to constantly capture their attention: a 2-minute breathing exercise, then an upbeat song with movements, then a silly vocal game, etc. This way, they don’t have time to get bored or overly restless. Moreover, singing engages the body: they learn to control their breathing, stand up straight, sometimes mark the rhythm by clapping hands… Very energetic kids appreciate this physical aspect of singing that lets them blow off some steam. If they start clowning around, the teacher gently brings them back on track and can assign roles (for example, “you be the rhythm leader!”) to value their participation. Our approach is flexible, so we adapt in real time: if we sense students are getting distracted, we’ll switch to a more dynamic activity to recapture their attention. Conversely, if they show signs of fatigue, we know how to slow the pace as well. In short, even the little live wires find their place in a singing lesson – they learn discipline gently and often come out feeling calmer and proud of themselves.

Shyness is common in children, and our singing classes can actually help your budding artist overcome it gradually. First, our teachers make it a priority to create a climate of trust: a warm welcome, absolute kindness, and zero judgment are the golden rule at Apolline. Each child feels respected and encouraged, never forced to “perform.” In the first classes, a reserved child might simply listen or hum quietly if they don’t yet dare to sing out – and that’s completely OK. The teacher will praise them for every small step of initiative, to help build their confidence. Before long, seeing that the atmosphere is friendly and non-competitive, your child should open up and start enjoying singing in front of others. Furthermore, singing together helps a lot: voices blend, and no one is exposed all alone. Little by little, shyness gives way to the pride of singing with friends. We have seen many shy youngsters blossom through singing, gain confidence, and even dare to get up on stage with a smile!

We keep our groups small to preserve teaching quality and a friendly atmosphere. Our musical theater pieces are designed for groups of about 6 to 14 students, and our classes are sized accordingly. A small class allows the teacher to give attention to each child, personalize feedback, and ensure every young performer can fully express themselves. It also creates a trusting environment where everyone gets to know each other quickly. It guarantees no one feels lost in the crowd: each student will have their place on stage and be valued individually.
Conversely, we also make sure to have at least around 5–6 students in a class to encourage a troupe dynamic and group camaraderie.

Teaching comics drawing as part of the school curriculum can be beneficial for several reasons. First, drawing comics can help students develop their creativity and ability to communicate visually. This can help them express their ideas more clearly and accurately, which is an important skill in many academic and professional disciplines. In addition, teaching cartooning can help stimulate students' interest in reading and storytelling. By teaching them to create illustrated stories, students can develop their ability to understand and analyze narrative structure. It can also help stimulate their interest in reading and give them a deeper appreciation of how stories can be told visually. Finally, teaching comics drawing can help develop students' technical skills in drawing and visual storytelling. Students can learn techniques such as layout, composition, coloring, and the use of different drawing styles.

Teaching manga drawing can be beneficial for students, but it depends on the school context. If a school wishes to integrate the teaching of manga drawing into its curriculum, this could be an opportunity for students to develop their creativity and visual communication skills. However, it is important that the teachers who teach manga drawing are qualified to do so, and that they have the appropriate training and experience to teach this technique. It is also important that the teaching of manga drawing is not considered a substitute for teaching the fundamentals of drawing. Students need to learn the basic techniques before they can explore more specific styles. In addition, it is important that students understand that manga drawing is an art form specific to Japanese culture, and should not be used as a universal representation of visual art. If manga drawing instruction is added to the school curriculum, it could be offered as an additional training or workshop, rather than a required course. It could be offered to interested students as part of a club or a special week of training for the visual arts. Ultimately, the decision to incorporate manga drawing instruction into the school curriculum depends on the school's educational goals and its ability to provide adequate training. Otherwise, you enroll your child with us!

Characters in musicals can be very diverse depending on the story, but there are a few archetypes or common traits we often see:

• Usually a lovable hero or heroine as the main protagonist. He or she has a dream to fulfill or an obstacle to overcome (winning a dance contest, finding a lost love, saving the family cabaret… anything is possible!). This is a character the audience can believe in and identify with.
• Opposite them, typically an antagonist (the “villain”) who creates conflict or throws obstacles in the hero’s path. Sometimes this character is cartoonish, other times more nuanced, but usually also charismatic – think The Phantom of the Opera, or Miss Hannigan in Annie.
• Lots of colorful secondary characters: the funny best friend, the confidant, the mentor, the ensemble troupe, etc. They bring depth and often a diversity of personalities. For example, in The Lion King musical, you have Simba the hero and Scar the villain, but also Timon and Pumbaa the comic sidekicks.
• Often, the characters in a musical have a passion for performing arts: They might be singers, dancers, or actors within the story itself, or the story revolves around putting on a show. For instance, in Singin’ in the Rain, the protagonists are film actors in the 1920s movie musical era; in Billy Elliot, the boy wants to become a dancer. This kind of self-referential art theme is common.
• Finally, the characters’ style is often shaped by the musical’s setting or era: You might have period characters (e.g. the 1880s high-society costumes of My Fair Lady), iconic rival groups (the “Jets” and “Sharks” in West Side Story representing two communities), or completely fantastical characters (the felines in Cats). It all depends on the show, but the important thing is that each character gets their moment of glory in song that reveals their personality.

In summary, a typical musical features a range of very engaging, expressive characters, from the courageous hero to the humorous sidekick, all brought to life by performers who sing and dance in their roles. This gallery of characters allows the audience to be thrilled, to laugh, to feel fear, to be moved… and to leave with stars in their eyes!

First of all, we need to understand what drawing is. It is an art form that allows artists to express themselves visually through shapes, colors and textures on a flat surface such as paper or a computer screen. To create accurate and expressive drawings, any beginning artist must start with the basics of drawing. The basics include sketching, a quick drawing technique to capture the essence of a scene or subject. Beginners can start with the basics of drawing such as proportion, perspective and shading before moving on to more advanced projects. Our classes cover these different stages of learning, for novices, amateurs and advanced students. Moreover, learning is a continuous process for even the most experienced artists. They can always learn new approaches and styles to improve their work. Finally, hard work is an essential part of learning to draw. As in any field, artists must practice regularly to improve their skills and creativity. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

They are numerous! Singing is an activity that is at once artistic, physical, and emotional, which makes it an excellent tool for a child’s development. First, singing develops the ear, memory, and concentration – you train your brain by learning melodies and lyrics. It’s proven that music supports cognitive development in children and can even help with academic success by improving attention and memory. Next, singing is a fantastic channel for expression: by singing, a child learns to express their emotions, which can help them gain self-confidence. Many parents tell us that their shy child found their voice thanks to the stage, or that they dare to speak up more in class since they started singing.

Furthermore, singing improves breathing and posture, which benefits physical well-being (better breathing helps manage stress, speak calmly, etc.). It’s also an activity that develops creativity – through song choice, possible improvisation, creating little harmonies, it stimulates the imagination. On a social level, singing with others teaches cooperation and listening to others: you share a convivial moment and make friends who share the same passion. Finally, singing simply provides joy and releases negative emotions. It’s a great outlet: after a day at school, belting out a tune lets kids blow off steam and relax. In summary, enrolling your child in a singing class brings as many artistic benefits (musical skills) as it does educational and personal benefits (confidence, creativity, sociability, etc.) – all while having a great time each week.

There is a lot of confusion about this. The main difference between a bass and a guitar is the range of notes they can produce. A bass usually has four strings, while a guitar usually has six. The strings of a bass are tuned lower than a guitar, which allows it to produce low notes that are often used to play the bass line in music. They do not have the same musical role. Basses are considered the "foundation" in a song along with drums, while guitars are often used to play chords and melodies. The playing approaches also differ, with different techniques for each instrument. To learn more, you can read our article on this subject

Binary and ternary rhythms are two types of rhythmic divisions that are commonly used in music. The binary rhythm is divided into two equal parts. This means that beats are divided into two parts, often notated with note figures such as quarter note or white. The beat is usually experienced as being divided into two strong beats, which are often accented on the first beat and the third beat (if the measure has four beats). An example of a binary rhythm is the standard "rock" or "pop" rhythm, where the beat is divided into two equal parts and the strong beats are usually accented on the first and third beats (if the measure has four beats). In contrast, a ternary rhythm is divided into three equal parts. The beats are therefore divided into three parts, often notated with note figures such as dotted quarter note or dotted eighth note. The beat is usually experienced as being divided into three strong beats, which are often emphasized on the first beat. An example of a ternary rhythm is the waltz, where the beat is divided into three equal parts and the strong beats are usually accented on the first beat.

Music theory and harmony are two different aspects of music theory. In particular, music theory focuses on the study of the basic elements of music, such as notes, intervals, rhythms, clefs, tempos, and the different levels of dynamics. It is essentially the learning of music notation, which allows one to read and write music. Music theory may also include the study of tonality, modulation, cadences and other structural elements. Harmony, on the other hand, focuses on the study of how chords are constructed and used in music. It involves the study of the relationships between notes and chords, as well as the analysis of chord progression in a composition. A good understanding of harmony at all levels is an essential element for improvisation in jazz for example. In classical music, it is used to create chord patterns that include dissonances and resolutions. Harmony can also include the study of voice and orchestration, which are ways of combining different instrumental parts. In summary, music theory is the basis of musical notation, while harmony is the study of how notes and chords are used to create coherent and expressive music. While both areas are interconnected and important to understanding music theory, they focus on particular aspects of music.

Painting and illustration are two visual art forms that share some similarities but also have some important differences. Here are some of the main differences: Purpose: Painting is often created to be a stand-alone work of art that is designed to be viewed in its own beauty, while illustration is created to serve a specific purpose, such as to accompany a text, story, message or communication. Medium of execution: Painting is often done on traditional media such as canvas, paper, wood or stone, while illustration can be done on a variety of media such as paper, cardboard, fabric, etc. Content: Painting can be a representation of anything that can be seen, imagined or expressed, while illustration is often related to specific content, such as a story, article, advertisement, etc. Target Audience: Painting is generally intended for a broader audience, while illustration is often intended for a more specific target audience, such as children, professionals, or enthusiasts in a specific field. In summary, the main difference between painting and illustration is their purpose and context. Painting is often created to express a personal vision, while illustration is often created to meet a specific need or to accompany a text or story.

Although the electric bass bears a strong visual resemblance to the electric guitar, their origins are not entirely similar. On the one hand, the classical guitar was born in 18th century Europe and has a hollow body. Descended from the lute, this same resonant body allows the guitar to emit sound without amplification. It is only in the 1930's that the first prototypes of guitars called "solid body" will see the day. In contrast to the classical guitar, this type of guitar is made of pickups and is connected to an amplifier. These inventions were popularized by Les Paul and Fender in the United States. At the same time, Leo Fender was also interested in amplifying the bass. Indeed, the bassists play then on double bass and are brought to have to produce sounds increasingly strong, in particular with the emancipation of the jazz style. Leo Fender will then be inspired by the shape of the electric guitar and will market its famous "precision bass" in the course of the years 1950. The first point that distinguishes the two instruments at first glance is the difference in size. Indeed, the bass reaches lower notes and, to do so, the strings must be thicker. This difference in string size is called the drawbar. The higher the draw, the thicker the diameter of the string and the stronger the tuning machines must be to withstand this pressure. Thicker strings will have to be spaced further apart, and require a longer neck so that each note can sound without "bending". Another distinctive point, the bass is composed of 4 strings (E, A, D, G) while the guitar has 6 (E, A, D, G, B, E). This rule is not absolute because, later, strings are added to both instruments to serve different styles. With a different frequency range, the bass and the guitar also have different roles. Let's take a relatively classic pop-rock band, consisting of drums, bass, guitar and vocals. The bass is the rhythmic and harmonic base with the drums. They act as supports, foundations on which the other elements can be added. The groove and the coordination between the bass and the drums is therefore essential. The guitar has a more harmonic role, with chords and other riffs. It dialogues with the bass to enrich the harmony and the rhythm proposed by the bass. On this well supplied composition, can then be added the lyrics of the singer to transmit a message to the song. From a pragmatic point of view, there are less bassists than guitarists. As a result, you'll have a much better chance of joining bands if you want to perform. There are also a lot of different playing techniques to explore, such as the slap, which consists of playing the guitar on the floor.

Kodomo Kodomo, which means "child" in Japanese, is mainly aimed at an audience between 6 and 11 years old. Most of the stories of this genre are based on the same pitch: the main character, who is still a child, lives incredible adventures in the company of friends, animals or creatures. There is often a moral message slipped into the story. Some manga of this type have succeeded in expanding the age range of their audience, such as Pokémon or Doraemon. Other popular series are Chi, a cat's life and Hamtaro. The nekketsu shônen The nekketsu, literally "hot blood" in Japanese, is the most popular manga at the moment. It is basically conceived for an audience composed mainly of male teenagers. There is usually a lot of action, the main character is mostly a boy who wants to do everything to become stronger. To do this, he will go through many trials, surrounded by his family or an entourage of close friends. Among the most famous, we find Dragon Ball, Naruto, One Piece and My Hero Academia. Shôjo Shôjo is the equivalent for girls of shônen nekketsu. The scenario of this type of manga mainly revolves around love stories in middle or high school. Friendship, school, leisure are also dealt with a lot, and we can also find fantasy in the "magical girl" sub-genre, like Sailor Moon. Other very popular shôjo manga are Fruits Basket, Vampire Knight, Sawako, Lovely Complex. The seinen The seinen, which means "young man", is a genre of manga aimed at men over 20 years old in general. The hero is more adult and mature than in shônen, and he goes in search of identity or truth. There is a more violent dimension and more advanced stakes, such as war, murder, power, death or manipulation. The scenarios vary enormously from one series to another, contrary to other styles of manga. Berserk, Akira, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure are similar to this genre. The josei The josei (literally female gender/sex) manga is attributed to young women over 20 years old. It also has more mature themes, often around a "slice of life" (literally a period of life), which mostly deal with the professional, love and social life of the main character. Josei is similar to shôjo, but it is more complex in the relationships of the characters, with also the presence of a love life (which remains rather light). The most famous examples of josei are Nana, Paradise Kiss, Blue and LIFE. Seijin Seijin manga is aimed at adults, mainly men. The stories are about serious subjects, like politics, complex investigations, history...

The bass is a stringed instrument, and the notes it can produce depend on the tuning of the strings. Most modern electric basses are tuned in quarter tones, from the thickest string (the low E string) to the thinnest (the high G string). In music theory, the most commonly used string notes are E, A, D, and G, although it is possible to tune the bass differently to achieve other notes. To play a specific note, you press a string at a certain point on the bass neck. The pitch of the note depends on where the string is pressed in relation to the frets of the neck. In general, the closer to the head of the bass you press, the lower the note, while the closer to the body of the instrument, the higher the note. There are many ways to play the notes on a bass, including using different playing techniques such as fingerpicking, slapping, tapping and many others. In short, the notes on a bass depend on the tuning of the strings and where they are pressed on the neck, and a wide variety of sounds and melodies can be produced using different playing techniques.

Sketching can vary depending on your skill level and the tools you use. However, there are some general steps you can follow to make a successful sketch. The first step is to choose your sketching tool. If you want a quick, spontaneous sketch, you can use a pencil. If you want a more expressive and dramatic sketch, you can opt for a charcoal. If you want to add color, you can use watercolor. Then you can start drawing the outline of your subject. If you are sketching a portrait, start by drawing the outline of the face. If you are drawing a landscape, start by drawing the outlines of the main shapes. Once you have the outline of your subject, you can start adding details. If you are drawing a portrait, add details such as the eyes, nose and mouth. If you are drawing a landscape, add details such as trees and clouds. Finally, you can add texture and value shades to give your sketch depth and dimension. If you are using a pencil, you can add texture using techniques such as blending and hatching. If you are using charcoal, you can add texture using techniques such as smudging and blending. Sketching may seem intimidating to beginners, but it's a great way to develop your drawing skills. Introduction to drawing can be done by learning the basic steps to sketching and practicing regularly. By attending introductory classes or following online tutorials, you can learn the skills necessary to make successful sketches.

Musical theater has certain hallmark ingredients that make it unique as a form of show. Notably:

• Alternation of dialogue, songs, and dance: This is the foundation of a musical. The story is told both through the actors’ dialogue and through musical numbers. You expect to see characters speaking and then suddenly breaking into song, often accompanied by a group dance that expresses their emotions of the moment. This blend is an essential convention of musical theater.
• Heightened expressiveness: Everything is often a bit more exaggerated and expressive than in a classic play. Emotions are conveyed through music, amplified dance movements, powerful ensemble vocals… The performance style leans into the spectacular to move the audience, whether in very joyous, colorful moments or, on the flip side, in touching ballads.
• Ensemble musical numbers: You frequently get big group songs with the whole cast, romantic duets, poignant solo ballads by the lead character, etc. These musical numbers follow certain patterns – for example, the show-stopping opening number to kick off the show, or the grand finale that reprises the main theme…
• Often an optimistic or heartfelt story: Many musicals, even if they sometimes tackle serious subjects, maintain an accessible tone with humor, romance, a happy ending or at least a hopeful conclusion. The goal is to give the audience an experience of positive emotion and entertainment.
• The union of arts serving the story: Ultimately, the big “code” of a musical is that music and dance serve the narrative. A song will reveal a character’s feelings better than a long dialogue would. A dance will symbolize a conflict or a celebration. Everything is designed so that these artistic elements interweave into the story coherently.

In short, the conventions of musical theater combine singing (often with original songs written for the show), dancing (choreography), and acting (dialogue and drama) to create a total spectacle. That’s what makes it so charming and magical: we willingly accept that at any moment a character might start singing their heart out, and we let ourselves be carried away!

Comic book artists use different types of equipment, such as pencils, pens, markers, brushes, and graphic tablets, to create illustrations that tell a story. They may also use drawing and image processing software to enhance their work. Comics, also known as comic books or comics, are a narrative art form that uses images and text to tell a story.

If they’re absent for a session (illness, family event, school trip…), it’s not a big deal. There’s no penalty, and they’ll rejoin the group the following session. We just appreciate being informed if possible – a quick WhatsApp message to the teacher is great – so the teacher can slightly adapt the lesson plan. In case of an absence, the instructor or classmates will take time to summarize what was done (for example, the new measures of a song or dance steps added). Since the class is a team effort, we’ll make sure they catch up quickly.
If there are multiple absences in a row, we can consider sending materials (text, audio, a video of choreography) so they can practice at home and return more confident. We don’t offer automatic one-on-one make-up classes, but the group’s support and the teacher’s help are usually enough to get them back on track.

When you have an idea, it is sometimes not so easy to turn it into a comic strip, a cartoon or a movie. To do this, before launching into the final result, we can go through several stages that allow us to gradually specify what we would like to do. For example, if I have the idea of a sheep that skis, I need to have a sheep, skis and a camera to make a film or paper and pencil to make a comic strip. But it's useful to go through a drawing first, a sketch. Well, the storyboard is, in a way, the sketch of the comic strip or the film. It consists of drawings and sentences, placed side by side. "Story" means "story" and "board" means "guidance". The storyboard is a dashboard, a guide. So the producers, actors and production workers of the film have an overview before shooting, the designers have an idea of what it might look like, what problems they might encounter, what is worth drawing, before they go to the final board.

It’s a vocal technique in classical music, at the heart of the opera world and lyric repertoire. This discipline is characterized by intensive work on breathing, posture, and vocal resonance, in order to develop power. The voice is used as a true musical instrument, capable of carrying to the back of a theater without a microphone. With proper vocal coaching, even very young singers can explore this style safely and develop their voice without strain. According to many opera singers, it’s a demanding but fulfilling art. It combines technical rigor and artistic expression, all while building self-confidence.

A musical is a form of live show that combines three stage arts: theater, dance, and singing. In other words, in a musical, the performers alternate between acting scenes, singing numbers, and dancing choreography to tell a story. This multidisciplinary art is very popular among teens and adults, as it allows one to explore multiple facets of performing at once. In a musical, you might see actors who sing while acting, or dancers who act while dancing. Famous musical productions include The Lion King, Les Misérables, and Mamma Mia.

Unlike a “classic” theater class (which focuses on acting and interpreting scripts), a musical theater class also allows students to work on their singing voice and rhythmic movement (dance). It’s an ideal choice for kids who love singing as much as acting, or who are torn between theater and dance – musical theater brings these three disciplines together in one fun and comprehensive class.

The average budget for a piano depends on several factors such as the type of piano, its quality, its brand, its condition, its size, and the features it offers. Here is a general overview of the price ranges for different types of pianos: Digital piano: between 300 and 3000 CHF, upright acoustic piano: between 2000 and 8000 CHF and finally for a grand acoustic piano: between 10 000 and hundreds of thousands of francs if it is an exceptional model. In our opinion, it is strongly advised to acquire a piano second hand in particular, provided that the seller is reliable and trustworthy. It is not uncommon to come across advertisements for pianos to be given away, for example, because they clutter up their owners and they only wish to get rid of them.

The main difference between these two types of guitars is in their construction, operation and use. Classical guitars are generally smaller and have a wider neck. For these reasons, it is advisable to start a child on an electric guitar. They also have nylon strings rather than steel strings. Classical guitars are generally used to play acoustic music, folk, classical, flamenco... while electric guitars are more commonly used in rock, jazz, soul music... They require an amplifier to produce an audible sound, while classical (or folk) guitars can be played without amplification. To learn more, read our article on this subject. Our teacher Arnaud Paolini is obviously able to teach on all types of guitars, as long as they have strings!

While the two disciplines share common ground (stage acting, characters, storytelling), they are actually quite distinct activities. A standard theater class focuses mainly on pure drama: acting roles, working with scripts, physical expression, and improvisation, with no musical component. A musical theater class, on the other hand, is all about musical theater – it integrates singing and dancing numbers in addition to acting. In practical terms, in musical theater your child will learn choreography, burst into song, then transition into dialogues, whereas in a theater class they would stick to spoken acting only. Musical theater therefore demands versatility and often a greater physical commitment: they have to work on their voice and their physical conditioning to dance, all while developing their acting. It’s more physically demanding, but also very comprehensive and fun for those who love to move to music.
Another point of difference is the goal: in straight theater you often put on a play or perform scenes, whereas in musical theater you prepare a show mixing songs, dances, and acting. Depending on your young performer’s personality and interests, they might prefer one or the other. Some students start with acting classes to build confidence, then move to musical theater for the added singing/dancing challenge. Others do both in parallel! At Apolline, we offer both types of classes, so feel free to ask us for advice to guide you toward the best fit.

There are several basic exercises to improve one's technique and thus climb the levels. For a beginner, the first rhythms are often based on a simple rhythmic signature, such as 4/4, which is often found in rock music for example. The basic drummer's rhythm is called the "backbeat"; the student hits the bass drum on beats 1 and 3 and hits the snare drum on beats 2 and 4. Before you start playing jazz solos, you need to start with the musical foundation!

Drawing the human body as a whole can be a challenge for many artists, but certain body parts are often considered more difficult to draw than others in comics. Probably one of the most difficult body parts to draw is the hands. Hands are very expressive and even the smallest mistakes can alter their appearance. They are also often depicted in motion, which can make drawing them even more complex. Feet are also considered difficult to draw, especially because they can assume a wide variety of positions and have proportions that can be tricky to reproduce. In general, body parts that have complex shapes and proportions, such as faces, hands, feet and torso, can be difficult to draw, but with practice and study, these parts can be mastered

The representation of the human body has been a staple of drawing for thousands of years. Like still life, human anatomy is a classic for every artist in every field of drawing. For many beginners, the portrait can be a difficult part of drawing. Specifically, the eyes and proportions of the face are often considered the most difficult parts to master. The eyes, in particular, require special attention to capture their shape, depth and expression. The proportions of the face must also be drawn correctly to achieve a realistic likeness. By taking classes with us, we will study portraits, so that we can acquire the proper skills to draw eyes, noses, mouths and hair realistically.

It’s hard to name just one, as it depends on the era and the audience, but if we have to give an iconic example, many would agree that The Phantom of the Opera ranks among the most famous musicals of all time. Created in 1986 in London by Andrew Lloyd Webber, this legendary show has been running non-stop for over 30 years around the world and has been seen by millions of spectators. It was also adapted into a film, translated into multiple languages, and has won numerous awards (including 7 Tony Awards). Its romantic-gothic storyline – a mysterious masked phantom haunts the Paris Opera House and falls in love with a young soprano, Christine – has captivated generations. And not to mention its globally famous songs like “The Music of the Night” or “All I Ask of You,” which still echo in your mind long after the performance!
Of course, other hugely famous musicals deserve a mention: Les Misérables, Cats, West Side Story, Mamma Mia!, and more recently Hamilton… Each has made its mark on the culture. But if your young talent becomes passionate about musical theater, there’s a good chance they’ll hear about The Phantom of the Opera sooner or later, so iconic is it in the genre. They might even end up singing an excerpt from it in class – who knows?

However, if we consider comics in their modern form of sequential narration, the earliest recognized comic book is "The Adventures of Obadiah Oldbuck", a humorous comic book created by Swiss artist Rudolph Töpffer in 1837. It was published in France under the title "Histoire de M. Vieux Bois" in 1842, and is considered to be the first comic strip in history to use boxes and speech bubbles.

Yes, drums are more expensive than a guitar... The price of a drum set depends on several factors, such as the quality, the brand, the number of pieces and the type of drum set (acoustic or electronic). The prices of drums can vary considerably, from 200-300 francs to several thousand. Acoustic drums are generally more expensive than electronic drums because they are made from natural materials and require more labor to build. A real drum set will be more "musical". In addition, it is the so-called "hardware" parts that cost the most. These are the metal parts that form the structure of the drums, to hold the drums, cymbals,... Electronic drums, on the other hand, are often less expensive because they have lower production costs and require less maintenance. The number of parts in the drum set is also an important factor in determining the price. A standard drum set usually includes a bass drum, snare drum, toms, ride cymbal, crash cymbal and hi-hat pedal. It is advisable to look at second hand offers on the internet, there are often good deals to be had!

Avoid very tight jeans or long skirts that could hinder dancing. No need for a costume: for classroom exercises, imagination is enough! The teacher may occasionally ask to bring small accessories during the year (for example, a cap, a scarf, or an object for a scene), but it will always be simple things you have at home. Our children’s singing lessons include songs suited to their age: nursery rhymes and traditional songs for the youngest, modern songs (pop, Disney, etc.) for the older kids, and a few must-haves from French music. For teenagers, we broaden it even more: international hits, pop/rock, R&B, even an introduction to classical singing or jazz according to their interests. The idea is to touch on everything so that the student expands their musical culture and vocal versatility. Of course, we stay tuned to everyone’s tastes: the teacher encourages students to suggest songs they like. For example, if your child wants to sing a song in Portuguese they learned with their grandmother, or the latest hit they love, we’ll be happy to include those choices in class – that kind of cultural and personal openness is very important to us, as it’s about giving singers artistic freedom. Singing is a form of expression, so working on songs they love is crucial for progressing with passion. Over the year, the student will learn several songs in various styles. And who knows – together they might even harmonize a small choir or sing a round, leading to wonderful musical experiences!

Choosing a bass depends on several factors, such as the style of music you want to play, your skill level and your budget. If you are a beginner and want to play jazz, funk, rock, blues or pop, an electric bass would probably be the most appropriate choice. Electric basses are lighter and easier to play than acoustic basses, and they offer a wide variety of sounds with different tone and volume settings. For jazz and funk, a bass with a clear, warm sound is often preferred, such as the Fender Precision or Jazz Bass. For rock, metal and heavier styles, a bass with a more aggressive and powerful sound like the Ibanez SR bass is often used. However, it is important to remember that the bass is a versatile instrument, and many bassists play different styles of music with the same bass. So, if you are a beginner who wants to explore different styles of music, a versatile and adaptable bass would be a wise choice, such as the Yamaha BB bass or the Fender Mustang bass. Ultimately, the choice of bass depends on your personal preferences and musical needs, so don't hesitate to try out different models before making your final choice. While theater and improvisation are two closely related performing arts, they have a few key differences. In a “classic” theater class, you generally work from written texts (plays, scripted scenes, dialogues). Students learn to portray a role, memorize lines, stage a story, and sometimes integrate concrete elements like costumes or sets. Traditional theater thus provides a structured framework: there’s an established script, defined characters, and staging planned in advance.

Conversely, theatrical improvisation relies on spontaneity and instant creativity. In an improv workshop, there is no pre-written script – the performers invent their scenes live, often based on a given theme or suggestions from the audience. It involves a lot of active listening, quick reactions, imagination, and trust within the group. Kids who practice improv learn to think on their feet, to accept their partners’ ideas (the “yes, and…” principle), and to build stories together on the fly. It’s a very playful discipline that develops ease in speaking, witty comebacks, and team spirit.

In summary, theater with a script requires more preparation up front (reading and rehearsals, set design), whereas improvisation demands a great capacity for adaptation and spur-of-the-moment creation. The two approaches are complementary: many young performers do improv to gain spontaneity and classic theater to deepen their acting. In both cases, your child develops valuable skills while having fun – either within a structured framework or in total freedom on stage.

Nevertheless, some techniques may present specific challenges in terms of material handling or control. Charcoal can be difficult to control because of its soft, crumbly texture, while using watercolor paint may require an understanding of color transparency and opacity. Apolline is not a singing school like the others. Our unique philosophy combines the rigor of high-quality artistic instruction with the warmth of a human-sized organization. In practice, this means serious vocal training (qualified instructors, solid techniques, tracked progress) without the rigid atmosphere often associated with conservatories. Here, there’s no elitist pressure: we offer the best of both worlds by combining high pedagogical standards and the pleasure of learning. Our approach is student-centered: we adapt to each individual’s profile, with personalized support that takes into account their tastes, their pace, and their personality. Unlike some more impersonal organizations, kindness and humanity are at the heart of our teaching. Each student is known by the team, valued, encouraged – they join a truly caring artistic community where they feel right at home.

Apolline is a multidisciplinary school: in addition to singing, your little artist can also be introduced to other arts (music, theater, visual arts) under the same roof if they wish, which is rare elsewhere. This open-mindedness is part of our values: we encourage each young person’s freedom of expression and creativity, without constraint or judgment. There are several reasons why someone might choose to play bass. First of all, the bass is an essential instrument in many styles of music, such as rock, funk, jazz, blues and many others. Playing bass can help create a strong, melodic bass line that complements and supports the other instruments in the musical ensemble. In addition, playing bass can be a great way to develop rhythmic skills and an understanding of how the different elements of the music fit together. By learning to play complex bass lines, musicians can gain a deeper understanding of song structures and musical compositions in general. In addition, music teachers often recommend the bass as an ideal instrument for beginners because of its simplicity and versatility. It is a relatively easy instrument to learn compared to other stringed instruments such as the guitar, but it can also be very complex and offer challenges for experienced musicians. Ultimately, choosing to play the bass will depend on personal preference and individual opinion. However, for those looking to develop their rhythm skills, contribute to the creation of melodic bass lines, and learn a versatile and rewarding instrument, the bass can be an excellent choice.

Indeed, it combines three artistic disciplines in one, offering those who participate a multi-dimensional form of growth. Here are a few great reasons to choose an activity like this:

• Discover multiple passions at once: If your child loves to sing, move, and make up stories, this allows them to do it all at the same time! They don’t have to choose between singing, dancing, or acting classes – they get to try everything and can find what they enjoy most.
• Develop a variety of skills: By practicing this art form, students improve their voice (pitch, breath control) as much as their stage presence, their motor coordination, their memory (remembering scripts and choreography), and their ability to work as a team. Few activities encompass such diverse skills.
• Gain confidence and creativity: Daring to sing in front of others, playing a character, performing on stage… these are real challenges that, once overcome, give kids a big confidence boost. They learn to express themselves without fear and to be creatively bold. This confidence carries over into everyday life (speaking up in class, asserting themselves, feeling at ease in public).
• Enjoy a rich group experience: Being part of a troupe means joining a close-knit group where everyone has an important role. Students learn to help each other (if one forgets a step, another helps them), the discipline of working together (entering stage at the right moment), and they share the nerves and then the joy of a successful show. This forges strong friendships and team spirit.
• Have fun and escape everyday stress: These classes offer a fantastic world where one can become a singing pirate, a dancing princess, a Broadway hero… For kids, it’s a wonderful way to decompress from school pressures while having fun. They burn off energy dancing and let out emotions singing – a healthy balance of discipline and play.

In summary, doing musical theater allows a child to blossom artistically while developing valuable personal assets. It’s a complete and motivating hobby that combines art and fun. Many of our students start “just to see what it’s like” and end up loving it, because they discover a true passion that helps them grow. So why not give it a try?

Theater is an extremely beneficial activity for young people in many ways. First, it’s a fun form of expression that allows kids to channel their energy and imagination in a creative way. By playing characters, inventing stories, or performing scripts, a child develops their creativity and gains confidence. A theater workshop offers a safe environment where the young artist learns to speak in public, articulate clearly, and modulate their voice – all useful skills in everyday life and at school. From a language perspective, working on scripts and diction expands their vocabulary and improves their speaking abilities.

Theater also encourages teamwork and socialization: by interacting with other kids through role-play and improvisation, a child learns to listen, cooperate, respect others’ ideas, and adapt to the group. Whether your young performer is naturally shy or very outgoing, theater can suit their personality and help them thrive. For very reserved children, drama is a wonderful personal development tool – a kind of gentle therapy that helps them come out of their shell without pressure. For kids brimming with energy, it’s an excellent outlet to channel all that enthusiasm and direct it into an artistic project.

In short, doing theater from a young age (even once they’re past the toddler stage!) contributes to a child’s overall growth. It’s an activity that is both fun and educational, nicely complementing school by developing essential psychosocial skills. And above all, it’s a great pleasure: children love to dress up, imitate characters or animals, and let their imagination run wild – so they might as well do it in a structured setting where they can get the most out of it!

That depends on the type of lesson and their age. For little ones aged 4 to 6, no at-home practice is required: the essentials are done during the sessions through games and vocal activities suited to their age. For students in one-on-one lessons, since singing is a demanding discipline, it’s important for the student to understand that real progress requires regular work at home.

However, it remains their choice, and we will always respect their motivation and wishes. Our role is above all to encourage each student in their efforts and, when it comes to a child, we maintain close collaboration with the parents to ensure that everyone’s expectations and wishes are taken into account.

For students in groups, it is generally advised to practice a bit at home to facilitate the group harmony. In this case too, the teacher works with the parents to integrate these practice moments into the family routine, without pressure or constraint. Around ten minutes of regular practice is already enough to produce excellent results. Our goal is always to help young people progress in this beautiful discipline of singing, with fun, kindness, and respect for each person’s pace.

Both must be of the right age to participate. Don't hesitate to let us know your wishes when you register!

Carnival vacations

In the cantons of Fribourg and Valais, these holidays are often held in February, and are marked by carnival festivities and fun activities. Like the Relâches, they are often the perfect time for winter sports. Creative workshops, sports matinees and costumed shows are just some of the options to keep you busy during this period.

March 1st Vacation

In Neuchâtel, these vacations are an opportunity to explore new activities. Parents have plenty of options to keep the kids busy, whether in the mountains or in town.

Easter vacations

The Easter vacations in Switzerland herald the return of fine weather. It's a great time for outdoor activities and creative workshops. Mornings can be devoted to shows, multi-activity programs or sports introductions, such as climbing or soccer.

Fall/October vacation

Art and passion are at the heart of our teaching approach. We value visual creation as an essential tool of expression, enabling participants to explore different styles, from Manga to Comics, Belgian comics, realism and abstraction.

To nurture this passion, we emphasize artistic freedom, enabling each participant to draw in the artistic theme that is closest to his or her heart. At the same time, we offer a structured framework that helps each student acquire the technical skills he or she needs, according to their current level. The support is personalized so that each student can progress at his or her own pace while exploring his or her own creative universe.

Our workshops encourage the development of creativity, observation and dexterity, while introducing young artists to fundamental concepts such as color, composition and perspective.

In addition to techniques, our workshops encourage group work and exchange, allowing each participant to draw inspiration and progress in a friendly atmosphere. More than just an activity, our camps offer an enriching experience for artistic development and the pleasure of creating together.

Choosing the right summer camp may seem complex, but by taking into account certain essential criteria, it's possible to find the ideal option. Here are three points to consider to make the right choice.

1. The type of program on offer

The first criterion to evaluate is the nature of the activities offered. Some camps focus on sports, such as climbing, mountain hiking or water activities, while others emphasize the arts, with creative workshops, theater and end-of-stay shows. There are also school camps offering support for kids during the vacations.

Multi-activity weeks give you the chance to try out several disciplines and enjoy a varied program. Make sure you choose a camp that matches your child's interests and allows him or her to develop to the full.

2. The setting and accommodation

The camp location plays a crucial role in the overall experience. Some camps take place in the heart of nature, in a comfortable chalet offering a mountain setting ideal for outdoor activities. Others are located in town, close to a school or cultural center offering easy access to workshops and artistic spaces.

Residential camps often offer on-site accommodation, with meals provided morning, noon and night. Those that don't offer accommodation generally provide catering for participants. It's important to check these details before registering.

3. Dates and accessibility

Check the camp dates and make sure they match availability. Some camps take place during specific periods like the summer, while others offer several sessions throughout the year. Accessibility is also an essential factor: some camps are located in isolated areas, requiring specific logistical organization.

If you're looking for a camp in the Pully area, for example, it's a good idea to see if there are any local options, or if transportation is organized. The possibility of choosing a themed workshop or specific activity can also influence the final choice.

By taking these criteria into account, you'll be able to choose a summer camp that perfectly matches your expectations and needs, guaranteeing enriching and memorable weeks.
